Benjamin Berlioz

After graduating from the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the class of Jean Marc Rollez where he obtained a first double bass award, Benjamin Berlioz became a member of the Orchester de Paris and, at the same time, led a chamber music career alongside the great today’s performers.

He began his chamber music career in 1997 as a founding member of the Deauville Easter Festival alongside Renaud Capuçon, Jérôme Pernoo and Jérôme Ducros.

Since then, he has been invited by prestigious ensembles to perform on the biggest international stages: Théâtre du Châtelet, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Salle Pleyel, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall of London, Festival Hall of Osaka, Kioi Tokyo Hall, Theatro Amazonas of Manaus (Brazil), Great Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Conservatory Hall of Geneva …

Thus he plays regularly with Talich, Ysaÿe, Manfred, Sine Nomine, Elysées, Fine Arts Quartet quartets, Moraguès Quintet, Wanderer Trio, but also with ensembles of the younger generation such as the Ebène, Ardeo, Psophos, Modigliani quartets , Zaid. He also performs alongside such soloists as Menahem Pressler, Natalia Gutman, Gordan Nikolich, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Raphael Oleg, Valery Afanassiev, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Jean-Marc Luisada, Frank Braley, Paul Meyer …

Benjamin Berlioz is professor at the Pole of Higher Education of Music at the faculty of Bordeaux III.
