Ensemble Quartz

Founded in 1991, Ensemble Quartz brings together artists graduates of Belgian and foreign conservatories (Brussels, Mons, Antwerp, Hanover, Paris, Montreal, New York …) and finalists of several international competitions.

Its members perform regularly as a soloist or in orchestras, both in contemporary music and on ancient instruments.

They are regularly invited at festivals and master classes throughout Europe, Japan, China, South Korea, Canada, Tunisia, Tanzania, Kenya …

Its basic structure – a wind quintet and a piano – opens with happiness to the harp, the harpsichord, the sung or spoken voice.

He also participated in poetry and music evenings with writers Gaston Compere, Bernard Tirtiaux Michel Ducobu and Peter Holvoet-Hanssen.

In 2010, Ensemble Quartz commissioned and created, in Seoul and Brussels, three new quintets by Claude Ledoux, Gilles Gobert and Michel Lysight and in June 2011, created in Shanghai three quintets by Michel Béro, Claude Ledoux and Philippe Boesmans. a sextet of Line Adam.

In May 2012, Ensemble Quartz participated in Igor Stravinsky’s “Soldier’s Story” project in South Korea, in collaboration with the Théâtre de Liège under the direction of Jean Thorel.
