The Lille Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2014 by Lucie Leguay. The friendship between the musicians and the conductor and the desire to share the music are at the origin of this tailor-made Ensemble. Their will ? Go to a new audience by offering an unpublished version of the symphonic concert. The OCL has the originality to be able to move anywhere, thanks to its variable geometry.
The conductor from Lille, could see that there was missing in the cultural landscape of Lille, an orchestra with this training called “room” (about thirty instrumentalists). This is the reason why it wanted to meet the demand of a wider public, for example that of hospitals, old people’s homes, prisons, sensitive neighborhoods. This training already exists in other major cities of France and in the world, which is why the OCL finds its place in our region. Since 2015, this tailor-made Ensemble supported by the press and communities has taken place in several atypical places in the city, bringing together an audience of more than 1000 people. In addition, they give a very important part to the musical education of children and to the democratization of an art too often considered as elitist. Indeed, during the year 2018 they will have the pleasure of collaborating with students of Faches Thumesnil, as well as the Jeanne d’Arc primary school for a concert “discovery of instruments” at the Residence Saint-Maur de la Madeleine.
