Patrick Gallois belongs to this generation of French musicians recognized and applauded internationally as a soloist but also as a conductor.
Pupil of Jean-Pierre Rampal at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique at the age of 17, he was first named flute solo at the National Orchestra of Lille and, at 21, solo flute of the Orchester National de France under the management of Lorin Maazel. He worked there for 7 years and recorded with the greatest chefs of Pierre Boulez in Seiji Ozawa. During this period, he follows the teaching of Leonard Bernstein and Sergiu Celibidache. In 1984 he left the orchestra to start an international career.
He first recorded for JVC in Japan where he was invited for annual tours of 5 weeks and more. After the recording of Mozart’s concertos, which won a gold CD in Japan, more than 100,000 CDs sold in one year, he signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft.
His career took on a new dimension thanks to the conductor, he signed a contract with the record brand Naxos.
He has a very extensive repertoire both flute and conductor with a strong taste for contemporary music, many works are dedicated to him. Married to the Finnish painter Tiina OSARA; they work together on the interaction between classical music and “action painting” painting around great symphonies: Franck, Bruckner or Richard Strauss but also on the improvisation common to him on the flute and T. Osara painting on stage.
Artistic director of “Sinfonia Finlandia” Jyvaskyla for 9 years, he signed for this great brand more than 40 CDs including 25 at the direction of orchestra beginning with 5 CDs of the first Haydn symphonies until the music of Maurizio Kagel or Peteri Vasks through the symphonies of Charles Gounod. The first CD of Massenet’s ballet recording series with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra has just been released as well as Mozart’s piano concertos with Idil Biret and the London Mozart Players, and he begins the complete Michael Symphony. The highlight of 2016 was the opening of the Malher Festival where he directed the 1st Symphony, the year 2017 he will be in Taiwan with the symphonies of Richard Strauss, then in Korea, Finland and will end in Argentina. For Naxos after completing the complete F.Devienne concertos with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, he finishes the recordings of the Mercadante concertos in February with the Czech Chamber Orchestra and W. F. Bach’s chamber music.
